Meet your New Direction Radio DJs/Presenters:
DJ Andy aka The 4 Horsemen
Andy has been a DJ for over 30 years hosting both Karaoke and disco shows around pubs and clubs in his local area of Ramsbottom.
A couple of years ago he met DJ Studster and MC Delete on one of their UK tours meeting listeners who tuned in to their shows.
He was asked to try out for a radio show, and has had the pleasure of presenting radio shows ever since.
Andy likes a full range of music, old and new, especially the quirky lesser known tunes.
He has a passion for Country music and enjoys sharing this love with the listeners (he has converted a few new Country fans!).
DJ Billy Elliot
Billy has been a regular face inEdinburgh since starting his career in 1979.
The first residence he held was the Edinburgh institution “The Band Wagon” while simultaneously playing 3 nights a week in “The Pub” in the city’s Rose Street, along with guest spots in almost all of the city’s Clubs or Discotheques as they were then known.
1981 saw Billy take on a 5 night a week residency in Piper and he stayed there through many name changes untill 1989 .
Since then he has worked in clubs from Newcastle to the Shetlands and worked with many A-list club djs. This leads us to today where you can still dance the night away with him in various pubs around Edinburgh.
Two years ago he dipped his toe into online radio and has never looked back.
DJ Denboy
Denboy has been a DJ for more that 30 years.
He has worked alongside many local musicians and bands over that period and has held residencies in many clubs in Birmingham.
His passion for music began with Soul & Disco, but through the years he has gained a great knowledge for other genres too.
His other passion is Sport so you will also hear what’s going on in the sporting world during some of his shows.
Denboy is very keen to take your requests so be sure to listen in and take part!
DJ Emma H
Emma’s radio career began when she was asked to co-present a show with her friend on a local radio station. This led to her getting her own show which she ran for a couple of years.
Incidentally, when her Dad (DJ Hedz) covered for her whilst she was on exam leave, this led to him starting his own Radio career!
Her Dad then repaid the favour when he got involved in Internet based radio stations and Emma was persuaded to come back on air with her “e-Tunes” show.
She now presents this weekly show, fitting it in with her busy Uni and work commitments.
DJ Fnlysn
Having only started presenting Oct ’22, Richard has found the enjoyment of playing music for others a great pastime.
Enjoying music from the 60’s through to present day, he has been lucky enough to work alongside some great DJs that have widened his musical knowledge from Reggae & Ska, Country, Electronic 80’s & Funk & Soul to name but a few.
Moving on he is looking forward to bringing more enjoyment to others through the music he plays on New Direction Radio.
DJ Fossil
Began DJing in Liverpool nightclubs during the late 60’s
(yes, he’s really that old!).
He then moved to Heysham, nr. Lancaster in 1986 and started as a Mobile DJ and also became resident at Kings Arms, Morecambe and remained resident DJ for 31 years, sub-contracting to other DJs.
Fossil finally retired in 2020, but after a chance conversation with long standing friend Martin Mac, decided to try internet radio DJing.
The rest is the future, rather than history…
DJ Graz
Graz started DJing in 1994 out of a deranged belief he could be Morecambe’s Pete Tong.
Under the Jedi-like tutelage of fellow NDR DJ Fossil he became a mainstay of the local DJ scene with a reputation for a remix!!! The longer the better….
Whilst he has been in self-enforced exile in a grotto far far away, he has now returned with NDR to present the new midweek House party (Humpday).
He also often talks to squirrels for no reason whatsoever.
DJ Hedz
DJ Hedz began his DJ journey when he was asked to cover his Daughter Emma’s show on a local radio station whilst she sat exams.
Off the back of this, he was asked if he fancied his own show and “Mixtape” was born.
After a couple of years of doing local radio, Hedz moved on to Internet based stations, spending a year at his first, then a further 2 at his last station.
His spiritual home is 80s but he has presented shows across many genres and decades from Rock to Pop, Soul to Indie.
Hedz is now looking forward to bringing you more great music as a part of the New Direction Radio team.
DJ Platinum Sounds
DJ Platinum Sounds started out back in 1991 by helping a mate out at local nightclub doing the cheesy room (50s 60s 70s 80s party music).
He eventually took over this slot and was resident dj at the club for 10 years.
In that time he played on the main dance floor playing club classics.
After this he moved onto mobile discos before starting as a radio presenter playing on many different stations.
His music tastes are varied and he can cover loads of genres & decades, just dont ask him for rap or classical :o)
DJ Platinum Sounds is a South-Easterner, coming from a small town just outside the city of Oxford.
DJ Studster
Studster started DJing in April 2021 with what was originally planned as a one off Rock n Roll show on a previous station and became completely hooked on DJing.
He then joined another station in September 2021 as Manager for 2 years, regularly presenting a Ska & Reggae Show and hosting The Sunday Night Quiz with his wife Rose aka “MC Delete” the hostess with the mostest.
He has also expanded into DJing at live gigs, Birthday Parties, Anniversaries etc.
Now a founder member of New Direction Radio, Studster is looking forward to an exciting, magical journey.
MC Delete
MC Delete has always loved a variety of music.
She started listening to internet radio during lockdown, then moved into producing shows for her Husband Cliff “DJ Studster”.
She has regularly stepped in to cover other DJ Shows when required across a wide range of genres.
MC Delete also presents a weekly Sunday Night Quiz as The Hostess alongside The Studster.
Now for an exciting new challenge on New Direction Radio, she will be bringing you a Sunday evening “Swinging 60s” Show.
We are always looking to add new presenters to our fantastic NDR team.
If you are UK based, have a laptop, mic, your own music, DJ software, a strong internet connection and a desire to play great music, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Please note these are volunteer positions.
